6 go to band stretches before your next workout

*never stretch if its painful, and do not use a band for stretching if you are considered hyper mobile.

Trying to get loosened up before a workout can be challenging at times. I like to have people grab a band to help stretch out their joints and even helps for a better warm up. Next time you go to a gym try this full body band routine and see how you feel after.

*Start out with a lighter resistance band and then increase to a heavier one once your joints loosen up more

1-Lat stretch-Turn your palm up towards the ceiling, let your arm relax and rotate your upper body towards your armpit. To make this a better stretch put the same leg as the arm being stretched behind you as if you are finishing off your bowling roll.

2-Banded chest stretch-Face away from the rig with your thumb pointed up, you can also rotate your thumb down for more of a bicep stretch.

3-Banded internal rotation stretch -Put the band above your elbow and reach around with your other hand to grab your wrist. You should feel a stretch in the front of your shoulder.

4-Banded ankle stretch– Put the band just above your foot facing away from the pole or rig. Push your knee forward until the heel comes up slightly. You can also squat down in this position.

5-Banded Hamstring stretch– This is one thats easy to botch so pay attention. Put the band up high on the leg. Walk forward with the banded leg, back leg should be slightly behind. Put your hands on the ground in front of you and straightened your front leg. You should feel a stretch in your hamstring. I like to bend and straighten 10 times in order to loosen up the hamstrings.

6-Banded front rack stetch-Be careful with the resistance on this one. Grab the band with one hand and drive your elbow up towards the ceiling. You should feel this in the armpit area and possibly the tricep area.

Give these stretches a shot before your next workout and let me know how you feel.
